00:00 - another bright and chipper morning this 00:01 - morning 00:04 - windy as hell cold 00:08 - but it's not raining which is good we're 00:11 - just on the edge of that front coming 00:13 - through and the rain is just a little 00:15 - east of us Stewart on the west side of 00:17 - the apiary right now and my rule is if 00:21 - we can get out and be keep we get out be 00:24 - keep we got to get work done here so 00:26 - we're out treating with oxalic acid 00:29 - again 00:31 - we're into a new card we just barely got 00:33 - in here 00:35 - we get out 00:38 - but a good thing is we got in so now we 00:40 - can get the work done we're gonna get 00:42 - this yard treated and they are in 00:43 - excellent shape just walking through the 00:46 - aether here I'm going through I'm 00:48 - putting entrances on just to try to hold 00:50 - that vapor into the hive because some of 00:53 - these tops here I don't have that 00:55 - foamy I don't have foamies on these 00:57 - colonies 01:00 - just I haven't set this yard up the same 01:01 - way as I set the rest a a tree and I'm 01:04 - gonna get it a little more okay like 01:07 - acid vapor loss through the crocks on 01:09 - the lid they have it we haven't cracked 01:13 - these lids for about a month and month 01:14 - and a half now and they propyl eyes them 01:18 - quite nicely but we're still going to 01:20 - show a little bit of vapor loss 01:23 - throughout the let's through the cracks 01:25 - in the lids so I just want to make sure 01:27 - that the entrance is right tight and 01:29 - sealed so we direct that vapor up and 01:31 - into the hive and then penetrate that 01:34 - cluster best we can so these loops are 01:36 - getting that are not getting the same 01:38 - dose as the singles do 01:40 - they're getting to grams I think that 01:43 - singles we're doing two to three grams 01:45 - but 01:47 - the clusters a little bit smaller you 01:48 - know they're discovering six frames a 01:50 - little tighter so that vapor penetrates 01:54 - that cluster a lot more effectively so 01:56 - this is what we'll be doing today until 01:58 - it rains and I think I'm going to put 02:03 - another jacket on 02:05 - and we'll try to pick the yards that are 02:07 - so windy we have whatever yards are 02:10 - sheltered but 02:12 - [Applause] 02:20 - [Music] 02:24 - [Applause] 02:34 - being a good treatment 02:37 - [Applause] 02:39 - [Music] 02:53 - [Applause] 03:01 - fairly sizable line 03:05 - and smoking from the entrance to get the 03:08 - reducers on 03:51 - [Applause] 04:07 - [Applause] 04:31 - [Music] 04:47 - [Music] 05:01 - [Music] 05:24 - [Music] 05:33 - these ones are a little more sealed up 05:34 - be 05:39 - [Music] 05:49 - [Applause] 06:00 - [Applause] 06:06 - a buddy of mine built the bottom board 06:08 - for me 06:10 - the problem with these ones or there's 06:13 - two pointing this direction and then one 06:15 - pointing in the other direction which is 06:18 - perfect for mating and perfect for you 06:23 - know just running them throughout the 06:25 - summer period because it helps keep the 06:27 - hives from drifting in between each 06:29 - other so that Center hive maintains 06:31 - itself quite nicely but in the winter 06:33 - shed I have to stock these as individual 06:36 - rows because they're pointing in both 06:39 - directions right 06:41 - so this high bottom is set up the same 06:44 - way so one pointing this way 06:49 - - pointing this way 06:51 - but he's got it set up 06:57 - so you can take the entrance out here to 06:59 - simply remove matrix from the one side 07:02 - [Music] 07:08 - and just place it in the other 07:14 - so it blocks off the entrance on one 07:17 - side 07:18 - leaves all three entrances open on this 07:20 - side 07:24 - - dude this is late enough the season so 07:26 - indirectly flying much my movement to a 07:29 - shed from the theory is 07:31 - freedom as 07:35 - single facing hives 07:40 - and you can stack them 07:44 - back against each other so that 07:46 - we do the rest of the Avery 07:50 - nice pretty slick 07:54 - [Music] 07:56 - another idea so I'm just finishing off 07:59 - the day chainsawing trees off my bee 08:03 - yard this one's probably one of the 08:05 - worst ones can't move these hives out 08:09 - with trees blocking the way so I'm 08:14 - assuming that this yard was covered in 08:16 - snow when these trees fell because 08:22 - they're laying on top of the colonies 08:23 - and none of the colonies are damaged so 08:25 - I mean I imagine they fell onto like a 08:29 - snowbank and just kind of melted down on 08:31 - to the yard so it's kind of a gong show 08:35 - but I'll get this chainsaw it off so 08:38 - then we can access yard to treat him 08:40 - with oxalic and then we'll be moving 08:43 - everything in 08:56 - [Music] 09:09 - [Music] 09:17 - [Music]

00:00another bright and chipper morning this
00:01morning
00:04windy as hell cold
00:08but it's not raining which is good we're
00:11just on the edge of that front coming
00:13through and the rain is just a little
00:15east of us Stewart on the west side of
00:17the apiary right now and my rule is if
00:21we can get out and be keep we get out be
00:24keep we got to get work done here so
00:26we're out treating with oxalic acid
00:29again
00:31we're into a new card we just barely got
00:33in here
00:35we get out
00:38but a good thing is we got in so now we
00:40can get the work done we're gonna get
00:42this yard treated and they are in
00:43excellent shape just walking through the
00:46aether here I'm going through I'm
00:48putting entrances on just to try to hold
00:50that vapor into the hive because some of
00:53these tops here I don't have that
00:55foamy I don't have foamies on these
00:57colonies
01:00just I haven't set this yard up the same
01:01way as I set the rest a a tree and I'm
01:04gonna get it a little more okay like
01:07acid vapor loss through the crocks on
01:09the lid they have it we haven't cracked
01:13these lids for about a month and month
01:14and a half now and they propyl eyes them
01:18quite nicely but we're still going to
01:20show a little bit of vapor loss
01:23throughout the let's through the cracks
01:25in the lids so I just want to make sure
01:27that the entrance is right tight and
01:29sealed so we direct that vapor up and
01:31into the hive and then penetrate that
01:34cluster best we can so these loops are
01:36getting that are not getting the same
01:38dose as the singles do
01:40they're getting to grams I think that
01:43singles we're doing two to three grams
01:45but
01:47the clusters a little bit smaller you
01:48know they're discovering six frames a
01:50little tighter so that vapor penetrates
01:54that cluster a lot more effectively so
01:56this is what we'll be doing today until
01:58it rains and I think I'm going to put
02:03another jacket on
02:05and we'll try to pick the yards that are
02:07so windy we have whatever yards are
02:10sheltered but
02:12[Applause]
02:20[Music]
02:24[Applause]
02:34being a good treatment
02:37[Applause]
02:39[Music]
02:53[Applause]
03:01fairly sizable line
03:05and smoking from the entrance to get the
03:08reducers on
03:51[Applause]
04:07[Applause]
04:31[Music]
04:47[Music]
05:01[Music]
05:24[Music]
05:33these ones are a little more sealed up
05:34be
05:39[Music]
05:49[Applause]
06:00[Applause]
06:06a buddy of mine built the bottom board
06:08for me
06:10the problem with these ones or there's
06:13two pointing this direction and then one
06:15pointing in the other direction which is
06:18perfect for mating and perfect for you
06:23know just running them throughout the
06:25summer period because it helps keep the
06:27hives from drifting in between each
06:29other so that Center hive maintains
06:31itself quite nicely but in the winter
06:33shed I have to stock these as individual
06:36rows because they're pointing in both
06:39directions right
06:41so this high bottom is set up the same
06:44way so one pointing this way
06:49- pointing this way
06:51but he's got it set up
06:57so you can take the entrance out here to
06:59simply remove matrix from the one side
07:02[Music]
07:08and just place it in the other
07:14so it blocks off the entrance on one
07:17side
07:18leaves all three entrances open on this
07:20side
07:24- dude this is late enough the season so
07:26indirectly flying much my movement to a
07:29shed from the theory is
07:31freedom as
07:35single facing hives
07:40and you can stack them
07:44back against each other so that
07:46we do the rest of the Avery
07:50nice pretty slick
07:54[Music]
07:56another idea so I'm just finishing off
07:59the day chainsawing trees off my bee
08:03yard this one's probably one of the
08:05worst ones can't move these hives out
08:09with trees blocking the way so I'm
08:14assuming that this yard was covered in
08:16snow when these trees fell because
08:22they're laying on top of the colonies
08:23and none of the colonies are damaged so
08:25I mean I imagine they fell onto like a
08:29snowbank and just kind of melted down on
08:31to the yard so it's kind of a gong show
08:35but I'll get this chainsaw it off so
08:38then we can access yard to treat him
08:40with oxalic and then we'll be moving
08:43everything in
08:56[Music]
09:09[Music]
09:17[Music]
